A Picture's Worth 1000 Words

 

 

EQ:  Think of your favorite poem, song, quote from a movie: can you visualize an image when you hear the words?

Review:

Objective:  Students will be able to apply skills learned in PhotoShop to create an original illustration of a poem, song lyric or quote.

Guided Instruction:  The teacher will show and discuss specific tutorials and students will practice each tool or technique at the end of each day's instruction.

Activity:  Using PhotoShop create an original illustration. 


Design your project as if it were a

poster for your wall

  1. Include ORIGINAL artwork or photos (Any photos or clipart from the Internet should be labeled for reuse)
  2. Include TEXT  - You can use:

  • A favorite quote (site the author's name)
  • Lyrics from a song (site the author's name)
  • A line from a movie (site the author's name)
  • Original poetry.
  • Your own sentiments.
  1. Include a Layer Mask on at least one layer
  2. Use destructive or non-destructive adjustments (filters, levels, etc.) to make your photo better or more interesting. (can be the same as your masked layer)

  3. Save the file in your "Projects" folder as a Photoshop (.psd) file.  

  • DO NOT save or convert to .jpg. unless you save it as a second file.

  • DO NOT flatten your image,  Be able to SHOW YOUR WORK!!.

  • Name your file with your name and 1000Words (smith john 1000words.psd)

  1. Open and fill out the GRADING RUBRIC.  Read the rubric carefully and score yourself by filling out the self-evaluation.

Assessment

Drop your project and your completed rubric into the appropriate Dropbox.
